Pro-Poor Horticulture Value Chains In Upper Egypt
The project, which is funded by the MDG Achievement Fund. Project activities have started in January 2010 with the recruitment of staff,the revision of the work plan, the preparation of tools and material, and theplanning for the baseline survey as well as for other upcoming activities. 

A preliminary data collection and analysis were conducted to assess the horticultural characteristics of 6 Upper Egyptian governorates. Furthermore, a joint baseline survey of 3 identified Post harvest centres in Upper Egypt was conducted by UNDP, UNIDO, ILO and UNWomen, assessing technical, institutional, labour and gender aspects. 

Currently, a comprehensive baseline survey is being undertaken and trainings and technical assistance are provided to post harvest centre staff. Furthermore, marketing and business tobusiness meetings are being organized in order to link Farmers Associations todomestic and international markets.
